We are pleased to announce the launch of the Global Macrobiotics website. As our first initiative, we will be posting information from around the world and articles. In these uncertain times, we hope to provide information that will inspire and inform your lifestyle choices.
You live each day with a purpose?
Have you seen this movie?
In Japan, it was remade as “How to find the best life : 最高の人生の見つけ方”
However, the original Hollywood title is “The Bucket List.”
A list of things we want to do while we are alive. It’s a great idea to put your dreams into words.
Bucket List
I currently lead a two-base lifestyle, moving between the western and eastern parts of Japan. I haven’t created a “Bucket List” yet, but I’ve been repeating a lifestyle with limited stay periods. Because of the limited time, things I want to do in that area naturally come to mind. While it’s not exactly a “Bucket List,” I find myself wanting a memo of things or small dream I want to accomplish during that period.
Some people might feel constrained by this. However, the limited time available makes me want to cherish the present moment of your life rather than live aimlessly. In a way, knowing that my life has a time limit has given me the opportunity to live in a way that values time. The movie I mentioned earlier depicts a protagonist diagnosed with cancer who learns of their remaining time and spends their final days living life to the fullest. I was deeply moved by their positive attitude despite their disability.
Nakaima no Seishin:中今の精神
In Japan, there is a concept called “Nakaima no Seishin,” which means to live in the present moment. Focus on the present, concentrate on now. For example, concentrating on chewing your food well while eating. Even when busy, try not to do other things while working on the task at hand. The present moment will never return. Living each moment to the fullest is what makes our lives brighter.
The Dalai Lama said like, “If the number of people who wish to be born on Earth were equal to the number of grains of sand on Earth, the number of lives that actually come into being would be like the number of grains of sand on the tip of your index finger.” Whether you believe it or not, if the invisible workings of the world are as described, the fact that we were born into this life-filled Earth may be a miracle. Your time is so precious!
A word from my mentor
I will conclude and convey the words I received from my mentor, Mr. Michio Kushi:
(I translate it into English from Japanese.)
“Don’t sacrifice yourself for a job you don’t want to do.”
”Enjoy your life, fully and freely!”
Even if you don’t have a Bucket list, why not write down your dream that come to mind right now?
And let’s take some action to make that dream come true. Seize the day!
